King Parrots, Grand Canyon, Blackheath
Wolff’s carbon pencil, watercolour and colour pencil on Fabriano watercolour paper
My drawing is an attempt to capture, through memory, the exhilarating moment of passing King Parrots, a chance encounter while sketching in the Grand Canyon, Blackheath. It celebrates the intricate and chaotic vitality of the Blue Mountains. The use of isolated colour on the birds underpins their energy and freedom framed within an ancient, enriching and intimate space.
